I distinctly remember the words of one of my previous boss - "It is because we didn't plan our careers too much, we were in the God's hands, and his way is the best way".
To be honest I always thought such words are always spoken by those who achieved success with minimal efforts. Life has a rather brutal way of teaching the same lessons when you fail to act upon such words of wisdom.
Found this interesting read where the Global COO of Unilever plc - Nitin Paranjpe speaks with Harvard Business Review in the similar lines - "Strange as it may seem, and contrary to the advice you might get otherwise, I didn’t spend too much time planning my career"
